light treason radio
Launching a small brand with a big attitude.
Seasoned podcaster Allison Kilkenny was looking to start fresh with a new subject and approach. Her previous contributions to the Huffington Post, The Nation, and her podcast were focused solely on politics and unreported stories in the media. She wanted to shift her focus into building a more light-hearted brand that focused on pop culture and politics to act as more of a lifestyle platform for her followers. I was hired to establish a brand strategy, create a visual identity and implement a seamless, informative web experience.
the problem
Making light of heavy situations isn’t always well received. How could we develop a new brand and digital experience that balances information and a sense of humor without being offensive?
the opportunity
Our strategy was to establish an expressive new visual identity that could be flexible and communicate dense, boring topics in a more entertaining way.
The tease
After selecting a visual direction, we launched the site with a “Coming Soon” landing page that would link out to a teaser episode where users could get a sense of the podcast format and content.
the site
Our primary goal for the site was to communicate the approachable personality that the podcast would evoke. The content was informative and educational, but lighthearted and friendly.
Carefully considered page titles and CTA buttons would guide users into the important sections throughout the site like the Episode repository and Donation forms.
